Feed the City Lakewood | Community Service Opportunity | October 25

Saturday, October 25 • 8:30–10:30 a.m.
White Rock Alehouse & Brewery
7331 Gaston Ave #100, Dallas, TX 75214

Join First Unitarian’s Community Service group for Feed the City – Lakewood, hosted by Tango Charities—a cozy morning of service and connection right here in our neighborhood!

We had our first group Feed the City event at this same location earlier this year, and it was well attended and a great success. The White Rock Alehouse is a smaller, relaxed venue that makes it easy to talk and connect while preparing sandwiches and snack bags for those in need.

Rebecca Martin and Jana Houston will be there as co-hosts to welcome everyone and help coordinate.

We’ll also be giving away the new “Service Is Our Prayer” First Unitarian Community Service t-shirts!

  • If you already have one, please wear it.
  • If you need one, include your t-shirt size(s) in the comments on the Realm event for yourself and any family or guests attending so we can set them aside.

Kid-friendly & flexible:
Kids can help make sandwiches or be “runners” who deliver supplies to tables—whatever they prefer. It’s also a wonderful event for adults and seniors looking for an easy, meaningful way to help. Each volunteer, if able, brings supplies that will feed around 30 food-insecure individuals, so every contribution makes a big impact. Please come with whatever supplies you can—every bit helps!

What to bring (enough for ~30 meals per volunteer, if able):

  • 2 loaves sliced sandwich bread
  • 1–2 pkgs deli-style turkey, chicken, or ham (pre-packaged)
  • 1 pkg sliced cheese
  • Small bottle yellow mustard
  • Sandwich bags (zip preferred)
  • 1 bag chips (bulk) & 1 bag tangerines (e.g., Cuties)

Logistics:

  • Parking is easy and convenient in the shopping center lot next to the Alehouse.
  • Rebecca and Jana will arrive early to welcome everyone and help organize.
  • Easy to get to, right near White Rock Lake—close to the church and perfect for a relaxed morning of service.
  • Look for volunteers wearing the First Unitarian “Service Is Our Prayer” t-shirts!

We hope you’ll join Rebecca, Jana, and the group for this cozy and meaningful morning that truly embodies the spirit of “Service Is Our Prayer.”

Please RSVP on the event listing in the Community Service group on Realm so we can plan seating and shirts.
