Interested in joining a Care Team?
Meals Team
Neighboring church members and members of our meal team bring food to congregants and families during times of need such as illness, a death or birth in the family, or recuperation from surgery or hospitalization.
Quill Team
Quill team members care for their fellow congregants by sending caring, handwritten notes in times of grieving, celebration, crisis, and joy. The cards are created with art drawn by the children and youth of the church. When you let the Pastoral Care Team know of your situation, your name appears in the Caring Community notices and prayers, and you receive a card from our Quill Team.
Visitation Team
Trained visitation volunteers provide individual, short-term emotional support to church members who are experiencing some challenge or difficulty in their lives. They also deliver Welcome Baskets to the newest members of our congregation – newborn and adopted children. Visitation team members provide care, presence and comfort to fellow congregants. With sufficient notice, some may be able to provide occasional transportation to medical appointments for members who cannot transport themselves.
By Your Side Singers
An a cappella singing group offering gentle soothing music at the bedside for people experiencing health problems. Visits may be made in homes and care facilities. Contact ByYourSideSingers@dallasuu.org for more information about joining the group. By Your Side Singers is part of Threshold Choirs International.
Care Calling Team
When a congregant is going through a challenging time, this team will connect via phone with congregants, offering support until the specific reason they are receiving pastoral care has passed/resolved. This contact will both help the congregant and the congregant’s family feel ongoing support, while keeping the church informed how the congregant is doing.
After Hours Phone Team
In the event of a family crisis or health emergency at night or on the weekends, members are asked to call our Emergency Number at 972-898-1949*. A team member will be the first to respond; they will answer your call and forward the information to the minister on call. A true crisis is a death, an unexpected hospital admission, an emotional breakdown which would require intervention or some incident of similar magnitude.
*This number is only to be called after, and never in place of, an immediate call to 911 in any time-critical emergency.
Knitting for the Congregation
This virtual group is comprised of congregants who use their knitting talents to create items for members of the congregation. From baby hats and blankets to welcome the newest members of our congregation to the world, to shawls to wrap warmth and care around our eldest congregants, the knitting team provides items to show others beautiful and practical care. This group does not physically meet; the group allows members to communicate when needs arise for the congregation
