WEA installs new board, including first Black president

The Women’s Evening Alliance (WEA) is an inter-generational group of women who embrace fellowship, share fun adventures, and support charitable organizations that impact women’s lives. At their May 9 meeting, the WEA held a ceremony for honoring their outgoing board and installing their new board, listed below:

Stephanie Womack, President
Kathy Lake, Vice President
Jeanine Powell, Secretary
Paula Rose, Treasurer
Margaret Gillett, Nominating Chair

This installation included the celebration of Stephanie Womack as WEA’s first Black president. Stephanie shared this statement about her election:

“Finding First Unitarian Church of Dallas and the Women’s Evening Alliance has been the gift of my life. The feeling of togetherness is one I have felt in precious few places in my adulthood. Being elected as the first Black president gives me a sense of pride and honor to know we grow not just in number, but also in diversity as we seek to live out our creed as a genuinely inclusive institution. I am excited to build on the legacy of my sisters and continue our work of helping those in our own community and the world.”
