Biological Minds and Artificial Systems
This month’s meeting will focus on the biological basis of consciousness in mammalian brains as a benchmark for assessing machine-based artificial systems. We will start with a description of the traits of mammalian consciousness, then discuss how artificial systems might replicate them. We will discuss the prospects for AI consciousness in light of existential concerns about human quality of life and survival.
This meeting will be led by Jack Youngkin.
