Thirsty for Knowledge, Thirsty for Water: Support the Children’s Village in the Khasi Hills

This summer we met Rev. Nangroi Suting from Meghalaya, NE India and we rediscovered the partnership between First Unitarian Church of Dallas and the Children Village (CV) in the Khasi Hills.

A very concrete need for our beloved children has come to our attention:

Inconsistent water supply in the local school attended by the Children’s Village children.

The current rainwater harvesting facility is no longer reliable as climate change causes erratic rain patterns as compared to past trends; moreover, clean drinking water should be a human right and yet, these children do not have drinking water during the school day.

An engineering structural plan for a new rainwater harvesting facility is ready to go.

The planned facility will serve multiple purposes:

· provide a consistent supply of drinking water.

· water for toilets

· regulatory compliance with the Indian government rules.

· Exemplify the rainwater harvest method for local villagers

Thank you for supporting our partners in India.
