Summer Solstice Potluck and Ritual – Hosted by Earth Centered Spirituality – June 27

Saturday, June 27
6 – 8 pm, Channing Social Hall

Join “Spiritual: Earth Centered Spirituality” in Realm to RSVP & stay connected. (New to Realm? Click here.)

At the Summer Solstice, we gather to honor the longest day (yes, the actual date is June 21, but we’ll do our best to carry the energy forward 🌞), the turning of the seasons, and the cycles that connect us all. Through the story of the Oak King and the Holly King, we are reminded that light and shadow, endings and beginnings, are all part of the turning wheel.

  • Our potluck will take place inside in the Foyer. Fresh, colorful dishes, drinks, and desserts are encouraged!
  • The ritual portion will take place in Channing Social Hall.
  • 🌿 The Story of the Oak King and Holly King – We will perform a short play to tell the story of the Oak King and Holly King.
  • 💧 Water Ritual – We will bless water with fresh herbs, flowers, and activating intentions. Everyone will receive a vial of the water to take home to remind each of us of the energy of this gathering and the joy of our community.
  • 🎶 Songs, Chants, and Movement – You will learn several short songs, chants, and accompanying movements to celebrate sun and water!

This is open to individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs who wish to come together in reverence for nature and community. All ages welcome and wanted – bring the whole family!

How to help:

‼️ VERY NEEDED THIS MONTH: NEW KITCHEN VOLUNTEERS. Let’s give our regulars a well-deserved break (or at least some extra help!) We are so grateful to all of you who help make these gatherings possible.

Signing up for a volunteer role at our gatherings is an opportunity to reconnect with the ancient traditions of community and village life, where collective effort and mutual support were integral to the well-being of all. By taking on a volunteer role with our group, you not only continue this sacred tradition, but help nurture a thriving, sustainable community that aligns with the values of respect, stewardship, and unity. Click here to sign up for a volunteer role.

💚 Each event requires group leaders to pre-purchase a modest amount of supplies. We ask for your contributions to cover these expenses. If you are able to give, the suggested contribution is $5-10 per gathering. Contributions are not required, but much appreciated. Click here to contribute.

Parking – Please do not park in the YMCA parking garage, they lock down at 6 pm and you will not be able to get your car out after the event. You may park in the spaces along St. Andrew’s, and in the back parking lot east of the courtyard (accessible by St. Andrew’s.)

Arrive on time or early – Dinner will end promptly at 7 pm so that we can move through all of the elements we have planned for the evening. Give yourself plenty of time to eat by arriving 10-15 minutes before 6 pm to place potluck items. You don’t want to miss a second of the festivities!
