Social Action Forum ‘Recognizing Your Power’

Sunday, December 10, 12:30 – 2:00pm, Don Krehbiel Music Center

Join us for a presentation provided by Walker Moore, Lead Organizer for Dallas Area Interfaith (DAI). DAI is a non-partisan, multi-ethnic, multi-issue group of congregations, schools and other non-profits focused on implementing systemic changes to achieve the common good.

Learn about how organizing for Social Justice is done on the local level and how congregations of many faiths can work together to create change. See how we can leverage our voices to create the collective power that we didn’t know we have within ourselves, our congregations, and our community.

About the Speaker:

Walker Moore returns to Dallas Area Interfaith with 16 years of organizing experience, including five years as lead organizer of COPS/Metro Alliance — the founding organization of the West/Southwest Industrial Areas Foundation.

By focusing on leadership development, the organizations he works with promote change around workforce development, education, housing, immigration, healthcare, and safety.  Recent accomplishments include creating a $300 Million workforce development fund, the nation’s largest municipally funded workforce development strategy and increasing San Antonio’s owner-occupied housing fund from $1.5 Million to $6.2 Million.

Prior to his time with the Industrial Areas Foundation, Walker organized with religious congregations in Waco, Texas for five years in addition to obtaining a B.A. in Biblical Languages from Oklahoma Baptist University, a M.Div. from George W. Truett Theological Seminary, and a M.S.W. from Baylor University. Walker is married to Tasha Moore with whom he has three daughters: Ava (14), Adaline (12), and McKenna (10).
