It’s been a few months since we’ve gathered at our Lakewood “home base,” and we’re excited to be back. The White Rock Alehouse is a smaller, cozy venue that makes it easy to visit while preparing sandwiches and snack bags for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Jana Houston will be hosting this month’s event and looks forward to welcoming everyone.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for kids, seniors, and everyone in between. Kids can help make sandwiches or serve as “runners” delivering supplies to the tables. It’s a fun, meaningful way for individuals and families to serve together while enjoying fellowship with other First Unitarian members.
Each volunteer, if able, brings supplies that help provide meals for approximately 30 food-insecure individuals. If your budget is tight, you’re still warmly welcome to volunteer—please come! Bringing extra bread is also especially helpful since it’s inexpensive and often the first item to run out.
Suggested supplies (if able):
- 2 loaves sliced sandwich bread
- 1–2 packages deli-style turkey, chicken, or ham
- 1 package sliced cheese
- Small bottle yellow mustard
- Sandwich bags (zip preferred)
- 1 bag chips (bulk)
- 1 bag tangerines or miniature oranges (such as Cuties)
Parking is easy in the shopping center lot.
Please RSVP on the event listing in the Community Service group on Realm so we can plan seating and supplies.
We hope you’ll join us for another wonderful morning of service as we continue living our First Unitarian spirit of “Service Is Our Prayer.”
Thanks so much!
