Join First Unitarian’s Community Service Group for another Feed the City – Lakewood, hosted by Tango Charities!
We’re returning to our Lakewood “home base” for another morning of service and connection. White Rock Alehouse is a smaller, cozy venue that makes it easy to talk and get to know one another while preparing sandwiches and snack bags for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for kids, seniors, and everyone in between. Kids can make sandwiches or be “runners” who bring supplies to the tables—whatever they prefer. It’s an easy, meaningful way for individuals and families to serve together.
Each volunteer, if able, brings supplies that help provide meals for around 30 food-insecure individuals, so it’s easy to make a big impact. If your budget is tight, you are still very welcome to come volunteer. Bring whatever you can. Extra bread is especially helpful—it’s inexpensive and often one of the first things to run out.
What to bring (enough for approximately 30 meals per volunteer, if able):
- 2 loaves sliced sandwich bread
- 1–2 packages deli-style turkey, chicken, or ham (pre-packaged)
- 1 package sliced cheese
- Small bottle yellow mustard
- Sandwich bags (zip preferred)
- 1 bag chips (bulk)
- 1 bag tangerines or miniature oranges (such as Cuties)
If you have a “Service Is Our Prayer” Community Service t-shirt or another First Unitarian shirt, please wear it! If you need a Community Service shirt, list your size in the comments on the Realm event, and we’ll do our best to have one for you.
Parking is easy and convenient in the shopping center lot. White Rock Alehouse is right near White Rock Lake and close to First Unitarian.
Please RSVP on the Feed the City – Lakewood event listing in the Community Service group on Realm so we know who will be joining us and can plan accordingly.
