A Message from the President and Vice President of the Board of Trustees

Last Sunday, Angie Sifferman and Ike Irozuru, president and vice president of the First Church Board of Trustees, shared their unique perspectives on the importance of pledging.

“I think of this church as an incubator of our values. This community provides us meaningful connections, inspiration, refuge at times, and acceptance. We all continue to grow as we’re lovingly challenged to consider life’s complexities and to not accept easy answers. This community models values in action for all of the children that we raise here. We come to this church to get reinvigorated and restored. To go live our values aloud in the world in the many areas that we work and we serve. I believe this church has a tremendous and a vital ripple effect.”

-Angie Sifferman, President of the Board

“When you stop and you think about the church’s budget and some of the strategic questions that the board and the staff are faced with, it really does show how contributing matters. It ensures that the wonderful staff that we have are able to continue to support the church. It ensures that the playground is a safe place for children among other items. It does make a difference – whether it’s because of your faith, because you are interested in supporting certain programs or charities that the church is involved in, or because it’s what we do as a faith community.”

-Ike Irozuru, Vice President of the Board

Here are some things you might not know about pledging at First Church:

🌊 We build our annual budget solely from your pledges. Because of you, we know what to expect.

🌊 A pledge of $2,272 per member covers our operating costs (electricity, heating & AC, building maintenance, livestream, paper for Orders of Service, etc.) and giving above that level allows the church to fully implement our values in the world.

🌊 When you pay your pledge automatically through your bank or with a credit card, you help stabilize our income throughout the year. Thank you!

🌊 Anyone can make a pledge, even if you’re not a member of this church. Many in our community do!

Each year, the Board of Trustees partners with church staff to put together a budget that represents our values and we depend on your pledges to do that. With 2024 right around the corner, we hope to hear from you soon. Click here to learn more.
