Native Landscaping Panel Discussion – May 3

Sunday, May 3
9:30 am, Hallman Room 303

Come hear from Master Naturalists and Landscaping Pros about landscaping with native plants and wildscaping.  Native plants require less mowing, watering, and fertilizing and are more resilient to the Texas heat and dry spells.  They help support pollinators like butterflies (including the endangered Monarch), bees, and other beneficial insects.  They also provide food and shelter for a variety of native birds and other small animals.  A wide variety of flowers are available with native plants during almost all the seasons.  Many natives reproduce “enthusiastically” and quickly fill in a new garden.  However, putting a variety of plants together into a pleasing and durable landscape can be a challenge.  Our panel has plenty of experience and lots of ideas about how to approach this challenge, and we hope to share with and learn from you.
