Join First Unitarian’s Community Service group for Feed the City – Frisco, hosted by Tango Charities, at Sidecar Social.
This is one of our favorite Feed the City locations. Sidecar Social always plays upbeat, fun music while we make sandwiches and snack bags, which makes the time fly by. It’s a great event for kids, seniors, and everyone in between, and a wonderful way to serve together as a community.
Kids can help make sandwiches or be “runners” who bring supplies to tables—whatever they prefer. Each volunteer, if able, brings supplies that help feed around 30 food-insecure individuals, making it easy to have a big impact. If your budget is tight, you are still very welcome to come help—please bring whatever supplies you can. Extra bread is always especially helpful and often runs out first.
What to bring (enough for ~30 meals per volunteer, if able):
- 2 loaves sliced sandwich bread
- 1–2 pkgs deli-style turkey, chicken, or ham (pre-packaged)
- 1 pkg sliced cheese
- Small bottle yellow mustard
- Sandwich bags (zip preferred)
- 1 bag chips (bulk) & 1 bag tangerines or miniature oranges (e.g., Cuties)
T-shirts:
We have received additional “Service Is Our Prayer” Community Service t-shirts. If you need one, please list in the comments that you’d like a shirt along with your t-shirt size so we can set one aside. If you already have one please wear it.
Logistics / Parking:
- Sidecar Social is right off the Dallas North Tollway, near the Dallas Cowboys practice facility.
- No traffic on Saturday mornings, so it’s an easy drive.
- If the center parking fills up, please use the nearby parking garage.
- It’s a larger venue, so we’ll plan to gather together once inside. I’ll arrive early to grab tables.
Please RSVP on this event listing so we can plan seating and coordination. Lance Price will share his cell number with those who RSVP the day before the event in case you don’t see us when you arrive.
We hope you’ll join us for this fun, welcoming morning of service that truly embodies our First Unitarian spirit of “Service Is Our Prayer.”
