Summer Solstice Potluck & Ritual hosted by Earth Centered Spirituality – June 28th

Earth Centered Spirituality is an intergenerational group at First Church that offers a place for seekers of all backgrounds to come together to honor the interconnectedness of all living beings and the sacredness of the natural world.

This month we are focusing on the activating and energizing power of the Summer Solstice. Here’s what to expect from this gathering:

Our potluck will take place inside in the Foyer. Fresh, colorful dishes, drinks, and desserts are encouraged!

The ritual portion will take place on the patio next to Channing Social Hall (weather permitting.) 

🌻 Community Altar – in honor of the motivating energy of this season, please bring an item for the altar that symbolizes fruition or completion. Something that you feel proud of! You will take your item with you at the end of the gathering. Examples: A tomato from your garden, a certificate from a course you completed, a painting that you made. 

💧 Water Ritual – We will bless water with fresh herbs, flowers, and activating intentions. Everyone will receive a vial of the water to take home to remind each of us of the energy of this gathering and the joy of our community. 

🎶 Music – Jenani and family will lead us in songs to invoke the energy of the Solstice.

☮️ Moving Meditation – Sally King will lead us in a slow, easy qigong along with a mantra.

💦 And finally…..a SOLSTICE SPLASHDOWN! All who wish to participate in some water play with reusable water balloons and water squirters will head to the playground lawn. Wear clothes that can get wet and bring a towel if you plan on joining this part. 

This monthly event is open to individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs who wish to come together in reverence for nature and community. All ages welcome and wanted – bring the whole family!
