India Partnership Update: Sponsors needed for Children’s Village, donations needed for ongoing needs
First Unitarian Church of Dallas has partnered with the Annie Margaret Barr Children’s Village since 2018. The Children’s Village is located in the small village of Mawrsynjri inthe Khasi Hills of NE India and serves as a home for children who have lost their parents. It is a project of the Unitarian Union North East India supported by the Unitarian Universalist Partner Church Council USA and the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Church of UK. The Village was named after Annie Margaret Barr, a British Unitarian minister who dedicated her life to the Khasi people.
Our church has made a commitment to our Unitarian partners in India to ensure that the children in the Village have the resources they need to thrive. Here’s how you can help:
Sponsor a Child or Young Adult in the Annie Margaret Barr Children’s Village
We are currently seeking additional sponsors to support individual children and young adults in the Children’s Village. Sponsorship provides wraparound support in the form of room and board, clothing, school tuition and supplies. For young adults who wish to pursue additional training following high school graduation, sponsorship also provides support for college or trade school tuition, lodging, board, fees, and transportation. The financial commitment ranges from $350 for a partial sponsorship to between $700-$1200 for a full sponsorship, depending on the child’s age and educational progress.
For more information about sponsoring a child in need, or to learn about our general support program for the Children’s Village, please contact Diane Mitschke at 817-807-1464 or dmitschke@gmail.com.
Contribute to ongoing needs of the Annie Margaret Barr Children’s Village
Other ways to support the Children’s Village include making a monetary donation in any amount to support the ongoing needs of the organization and to help offset unexpected expenses such as electricity, water supply, and heating. Individuals who make a donation of at least $25 will receive a complimentary set of 5 watercolor print notecards designed by the children at the Children’s Village.
