Spiritual Practice 101
Sundays, January 12 – March 30 | 11:15am-12:15pm | 12 sessions
This course is designed to help participants develop their spiritual lives through daily practice, weekly worship, monthly service, yearly retreat, and one-time pilgrimage. This is the challenge we give to all new members of First Unitarian Church of Dallas to deepen their relationship with the church, the faith, the Divine, and the self. The structure of these classes is a mixture of direct experience and instruction. Debate and discussion is not a focus of these sessions. Supporting material is provided for participants to take home to deepen their practice. Where possible, spiritual practices should be demonstrated and experienced in the session.

Biblical Literacy for UUs
Sundays, March 2 – May 11 | 9:30am-10:45am | 11 sessions
Biblical Literacy for Unitarian Universalists is an exploration of the Bible, and how we as Unitarian Universalists approach the text. The stories of the Bible are woven into Western culture and society, and our Unitarian Universalist tradition goes back to the Bible and its early interpretation. It is important for Unitarian Universalists to have knowledge of the Bible and ways of approaching it as one of our Sources to discover truth and meaning within its pages and its history. As we do with all scripture and story, we ask not “is this true?” but rather “what is true about this?” Participants will learn about the structure of the Bible and how it developed over time, explore some of its stories, and reflect on its connection to their own lives and to Unitarian Universalism historically and in our time.

Beyond Inquirers

Have you completed the Inquirers Series? Are you seeking a way to deepen your learning and engagement with the congregation? Beyond Inquirers is a five-session series on the Faith Forward Path focused on the congregation and you – offering a deeper understanding of how the congregation works and how you can be part of it.

Roots
Monday, April 7 | 7:00pm-8:30pm
Facilitator: Rev. T. J. FitzGerald
A minister hosts one Roots session per semester to give participants a fun, informative overview of the history of our faith. The goals of Roots are as follows: 1) Make our faith’s values and culture transparent and known to newcomers, so that they may make an informed decision about membership in our church and 2) Introduce newcomers to church staff, ministers, and lay leaders.
