Join First Unitarian’s Community Service group as we try a new Feed the City location in Carrollton at Three Nations Brewing Co. — and the best part? We get to sleep in a little more with the later start time!
This Feed the City location meets on the 4th Saturday of every month and is hosted by Tango Charities. As always, we’ll be making sandwiches and assembling snack bags to help provide meals for those experiencing food insecurity.
This is a great event for kids, seniors, and everyone in between. Kids can help make sandwiches or be “runners” who deliver supplies to tables. It’s welcoming, simple, and a meaningful way to serve together.
Each volunteer, if able, brings supplies that help feed 25–30 food-insecure individuals, making it easy to have a big impact. If your budget is tight, you are still very welcome to come volunteer — please bring whatever you can. Extra bread is always especially helpful and often runs out first.
What to bring (enough for 25–30 meals per volunteer, if able):
- 2 loaves sliced sandwich bread
- 1–2 pkgs deli-style turkey, chicken, or ham (pre-packaged)
- 1 pkg sliced cheese
- Small bottle yellow mustard
- Sandwich bags (zip preferred)
- 1 bag chips
- 1 bag tangerines or miniature oranges
T-shirts:
If you have a “Service Is Our Prayer” or any First Unitarian t-shirt, please wear it. If you need one, let us know in the comments along with your size and we will provide it!
Logistics:
- Start time is 9:45 a.m. (a little later than some of our other locations!)
- Tango Charities signs for service hours if needed.
- We’ll gather near the sandwich tables once inside.
