Join First Unitarian’s Community Service group for Feed the City Dallas, hosted by Tango Charities at Bowl & Barrel. Bowl & Barrel’s address is 8084 Park Ln, Suite 145, Dallas, TX 75231. It is located within The Shops at Park Lane. This is the original home location for Tango Tab’s Feed the City program, and it’s always a great morning of service.
Bowl & Barrel is centrally located, about 10 minutes from First Unitarian, and easy to get to. They also always play fun, high-energy music while we’re making sandwiches, which makes the time fly by.
This is a great event for kids, seniors, and everyone in between—simple, welcoming, and meaningful. Kids can help make sandwiches or be “runners” who bring supplies to tables, whichever they prefer. Each volunteer, if able, brings supplies that help feed around 30 food-insecure individuals, but please come with whatever you can—every bit helps. If budget is tight, you are still very welcome to come volunteer. Bringing extra bread is also a great option since it’s the least expensive item and often runs out first.
What to bring (enough for ~30 meals per volunteer, if able):
- 2 loaves sliced sandwich bread
- 1–2 pkgs deli-style turkey, chicken, or ham (pre-packaged)
- 1 pkg sliced cheese
- Small bottle yellow mustard
- Sandwich bags (zip preferred)
- 1 bag chips (bulk) & 1 bag tangerines/minituare oranges (e.g., Cuties)
T-shirts:
If you have a “Service Is Our Prayer” Community Service shirt, please wear it. If you don’t, come anyway—your presence matters far more than the shirt! We have very few adult t-shirts left and lots of kids in all sizes. If you don’t have a shirt and would like one please your size in the comments and we will try to accomodate. We may get some more in before the event.
Logistics / Parking:
- Please park in one of the nearby garages in the Shops at Park Lane.
- If you have a lot of supplies, you may want to briefly double-park in front of Bowl & Barrel to unload, then go park in the garage.
- Once inside, we’ll gather near the sandwich tables.
