DESCRIPTION:First Unitarian Church of Dallas is pleased to welcome guest preacher Adam Lawrence Dyer. \nCaribbean Radical \nCaribbean immigrants in the 1920s were among some of the most powerful voices protesting the violence of lynching and other racial oppressions.  It is often from immigrants that we learn what it means to value freedom.\n\nBlessing of the Backpacks \nStudents and Educators – bring your backpacks this Sunday!  \nIt’s time for our annual Blessing of the Backpacks. Anyone who is going back to school is invited to bring their backpacks and work bags to receive a blessing and special gift. \n\nMusic provided by percussionist Drew Lang on marimba.\nWorship at 9:30am and 11am CST in-person or online • 7:00pm ONLINE ONLY \nAbou Adam Lawrence Dyer. \nAdam Lawrence Dyer is an ordained minister and was the lead minister at First Parish in Cambridge Unitarian Universalist\, from 2017 to  2022\, while also serving as a chaplain at Harvard University. He is the author of “Love Beyond God” and maintains his own blog\, Spirituwellness.org. In 2021\, he contributed to the Harvard Kennedy School LGBTQ Policy Journal with “Religious Equity: A Path to Greater LGBTQ Inclusion.” Dyer has worked with the Alliance for Boys and Men of Color in Oakland\, California; My Brother’s Keeper in Cambridge\, Massachusetts; and PICO Networks with a focus toward equity\, gender and sexuality. He is currently in the Religious Studies Ph.D. program at the University of Virginia.

It has been signed by hundreds of our members and stands as an important part of the spiritual life of our church and its members.  \nThis event\, planned by the youth members of the Racial Equity Task Force\, will give you the opportunity to ponder\, renew\, or make your first commitment to racial equity at our church and beyond. You will be invited to pause\, consider\, and critically examine your personal commitment to advancing racial equity within our community\, encouraging deeper engagement\, awareness\, and action.
