DESCRIPTION:If you’re hoping to go to heaven\, we’ve got some good news for you. Come and join us this Sunday to hear all about it.\nThis week’s film: Field of Dreams – \n\nField of Dreams intertwines themes of faith\, redemption\, and the power of following one’s dreams. It challenges us to trust in the unseen\, to have faith in our visions\, and to build bridges between the past and the future. Through its portrayal of second chances and the importance of community\, it reminds us of the transformative power of forgiveness and the potential for miracles in our everyday lives. \nJoin us for our first summer sermon series as we journey through the realms of faith\, humanity\, and the divine\, illuminated by the magic of film. Each Wednesday evening we will gather in community to view a diverse selection of films that captivate the heart and mind. Each screening will be followed by a discussion where we unpack the film’s themes\, symbolism\, and relevance to our shared journey. Films start at 6pm sharp in the Don Krehbiel Music Center. Discussion is from 7:45-8:15pm. On Sunday mornings\, join us as we continue to explore the films and their lessons in worship. Whether you’re a film enthusiast\, a seeker of truth\, or simply curious about the intersection of faith and storytelling\, you’ll find inspiration\, community\, and spiritual nourishment during this fun series! \n\nRev. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 23rd\n12:30pm\, Don Krehbiel Music Center \nAdult Ministries welcomes author and First Church member Patty Bates-Ballard to the Don Krehbiel Music Center to discuss her book Judgement or Joy? followed by a book signing in the Library. \nBased on the lessons she learned from her son Kory\, Patty’s book Judgment or Joy? offers a series of digestible daily readings accompanied by thought-provoking questions that connect the dots between releasing self-judgments\, building connections\, and embracing vibrant joy in life. \nYou can purchase copies of Judgement or Joy? at the event with Zelle\, PayPal\, cash or check or order ahead of time here. \nAbout Patty \nPatty Bates-Ballard is CEO of WordSmooth\, author of the books Judgment or Joy\, ACE-ing Conflict\, and Navigating Diversity\, and developer of the Harvest Respect program. As a speaker\, writer\, educator\, and mediator\, Patty has championed effective communication across differences for three decades. She is the mother of two sons\, Kory and Kaden\, who inspire her daily. \nAt a young age\, Patty’s faith ignited in her a passion for fairness and justice and a deep respect for the earth and its people. Her Harvest Respect program helps school districts\, police departments\, corporations\, governmental agencies\, and nonprofit organizations communicate effectively across differences so they can better fulfill their missions. A volunteer for the African American Museum of Dallas and CORE\, a member of National Association for Community Mediation\, and a member of First Unitarian Church of Dallas\, Patty received BA degrees in Psychology and Philosophy/Religion from Austin College. \nClick to register in Realm
