Announcing our new Director of Music, Grant Wareham

A message from the Hiring Team:

“We are pleased to announce that Grant Wareham is the new Director of Music at First Unitarian Church of Dallas.

During the search process we interviewed a diverse pool of candidates while looking for the best individual to conduct our church choirs, provide in-service keyboard music, and administer our church’s high-quality music program.  Grant can do all this well.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Grant holds a Master of Music (MM) degree from the Yale University Institute of Sacred Music and School of Music and a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. He also studied choral conducting at Messiah University. He has served in Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, and Roman Catholic churches, but his values closely align with those of our church, and he is eager to become a part of our progressive faith community as he serves among us.  Grant has a deep understanding of the value of quality music in worship and in the life of a congregation.  In his spare time, Grant enjoys flying on his home flight simulator with his trusty co-pilot, a Labrador mix named Artemis. 

Grant’s first day of employment will be in late July, in time for Ingathering and the new church year.  Before then, you have two opportunities to meet him:

Welcome Recital and Reception at First Church
Thursday,  June 6th, 6 pm, Sanctuary
Grant will give a short piano and organ recital followed by a meet-and-greet reception in Channing Social Hall.

Organ Recital at University of North Texas
Saturday, June 8th, 12:30pm,
