A Message from Your Ministers: A call for peace, justice, and the freedom to exercise civil rights
“Your ministers witness with you the ongoing horrors of war in Gaza. We continue our calls for a cease fire and join the growing number of voices worldwide calling for a just end to this war, including the immediate return of hostages to their families by all combatants.
Many of our members attend and work at college campuses throughout the country and in other settings where protests are taking place. We want for our members what we want for all people: to be free of violence and intimidation in the exercise of civil rights. We call on school leaders immediately to cease the use of violent force against peaceful protesters and turn back from escalation that can only lead to grave harm.
The violence in so much of the news we follow compounded by powerful personal challenges many of us face in our own lives is straining many of us beyond what we are used to handling. You are not alone. If any member of our community needs to speak about what they are experiencing, we are here for you. We love you. We pray for you always in the names of all helpers of humankind.”
