125 Years…125 Hours – See the impressive final numbers from this church-wide community service project
To commemorate the 125th anniversary of First Unitarian Church of Dallas, members and friends of the church were challenged to perform 125 hours of service to the church and/or the broader community because “service is our prayer.”
The program ran from September 8, 2024, to April 6, 2025, a total of 30 weeks. During this time, 190 individuals and families logged a total of 17,609.5 hours, an average of nearly 600 hours per week and an average of just over 90 hours per individual or family. Of those, 69 individuals or families achieved the goal of 125 hours and 12 were able to contribute 250 or more hours, doubling the goal. The top family contributed 633.25 hours, and the top individual logged 566 hours.
We had participants from 8 states (Texas, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Missouri, New York and Tennessee), as well as Meghalaya India. This includes service in 50 cities in Texas.
Our members provided service to many activities inside First Church and in the broader community. Within First Church, Pastoral Care, The Women’s Alliances (WDA/WEA) and our Choirs had the most hours of service logged. Outside of Church, the most supported groups were Vickery Meadow Neighborhood Alliance, North Dallas Shared Ministries (NDSM), White Rock Center of Hope, North Texas Master Naturalist, and Reading Partners.
We thank each of you for your service and putting “service is our prayer” into action.
For your participation, please stop by the 125th Anniversary Table on Sunday, May 4 and pick up a token of appreciation.
