Chart & Compass 2010

Funding Our Goals

"We know, as a denomination, that if we simply retained our visitors-and we do a better job than most denominations - but if our churches across the country simply retained our visitors - we could double the size of our denomination in a year.

"I can't emphasize enough that if you begin to tell yourself, however silently, that we've done all we can do here, that this is who we are, and forget about all those who are 'checking us out,' who need us, who are looking for a church home-we have the capacity to freeze the vitality and close ourselves off from our future and kill the life of the church."

Dr. Laurel Hallman
Senior Minister, First Unitarian Church of Dallas

How Will We Get There? We will be the way.

Dozens of volunteers and our church staff are already actively working on implementing the initiatives of Chart and Compass 2010. The church included some project initiatives in the operating budget, such as religious education staff increases. Whether we will ultimately achieve our many remaining goals depends on all of us: our time and our financial resources. We need additional volunteers, we will need regular increases in our annual Canvass pledges to sustain new levels of operating expense, and we need $9 million in capital campaign gifts from members to fund project start-up costs and facilities renovation and new construction. We have evidence that all of this is possible:
